TradeSift training course in Nairobi, Kenya May 2016
Michael Gasiorek, Maximiliano Mendez Parra and Ruth Palmer delivered a 5 day TradeSift training course in Nairobi, Kenya from 23rd to 27th May for the COMESA Secretariat.
The course for the Secretariat looked at ‘Analysing International Trade Policy and Regionalism’ whilst using TradeSift to help explore the analysis of international trade and trade policy and it was attended by 40 participants who worked together with warmth and positive spirit. The team discussed various conceptual issues in a supportive learning environment and the attendees, after being split in working groups, presented their projects on the last day. The project ranged from examining the potential for increased tobacco exports for Malawi, the possible impact of Brexit on SADC trade, to the impact of the integration of Rwanda and Burundi with the EAC. After the presentation the groups were then thanked for their hard work, their time and constructive comments. InterAnalysis thanks the COMESA Secretariat for giving such a great opportunity to meet trade specialists from different African countries and look forward to come back again soon.
